Matthew J. Henning is a transportation defense attorney at Roberts Perryman P.C., where his practice centers on representing motor carriers, logistics companies, and their insurers in high‑stakes trucking and commercial transportation litigation. Based in the firm’s St. Louis office, Matthew defends clients in catastrophic injury cases, post‑accident claims, cargo matters, and complex coverage disputes across Missouri and Illinois.
Before entering private practice, Matthew spent several years working in the healthcare industry, giving him an insider’s understanding of injury evaluation, medical causation, and post‑accident treatment, knowledge he now leverages to efficiently and effectively defend personal injury claims involving commercial vehicles.
Matthew earned his J.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Law, where he gained extensive courtroom exposure in State and Federal levels through externships with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri, and the Johnson County Illinois Prosecutors Office. This experience provided him with a strong foundation in federal and state litigation, motion practice, and trial preparation.
He is licensed to practice in Missouri and Illinois, as well as in several federal district courts within both states. His multijurisdictional experience allows him to assist transportation clients throughout the Midwest with rapid response, early case evaluation, and consistent defense strategies across state lines.
Matthew is an active member of the trucking and transportation community. He participates in industry organizations including the Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA), Transportation Defense Advocacy Council (TDAC), the Missouri and Illinois Trucking Associations, and the American Trucking Association (ATA). He has presented at industry meetings and recently completed ATA’s Wheels & Deals: Mastering the Art of Negotiation program. In recognition of his commitment to transportation defense, Matthew was named to Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch (2025) in Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants.
