US Senate to Consider Tolls on Existing Interstates

2/13/2012

All 50 state trucking associations, as well as the entire ATA federation and other groups, is in opposition to a US Senate plan that would allow tolls on the existing interstate highway system.

Senator Tom Carper (D-DE) filed an amendment that would greatly expand states’ and cities’ authority to toll existing lanes on the Interstate Highway System.

On February 13th, every member of the U.S. Senate received a letter in opposition to the amendment that is expected to be introduced by Sen. Carper. You may also click here to see the letter.

We encourage all trucking industry supporters to reach out to your State Senators and ask that they oppose any Senate amendment to the federal highway bill that allows for the expansion of tolling across the interstate highway system.
